My name is Elizabeth Daigle and I am addicted to my iPhone.

No lie.

I am so addicted that my hand will hurt for days because I have been texting or navigating the web on my phone too frequently. How frequently do you need to do that for your hand to hurt, you ask? Must be a lot. Although, I have no conscious idea how much I do it because my cell phone has become somewhat of a fifth appendage.

Or the weekly (scratch that, daily panic) that I have that lost my phone. The initial shock of not knowing where my phone is and my first thought is not where I last was but what will happen if I did lose it this time around. “I’ll all my client’s phone numbers!” “How will anyone reach me?” Relief sets in when I find my phone. Most likely found at the bottom of my purse, big enough to serve as a suitcase on my next vacation….

I have tried to find a solution to this, especially to aide the physical pain I often feel in my hand. Nothing has quite worked. I keep testing out solutions at no avail. The best thing I have found is to physically hide my phone OR turn it on ‘airplane’ mode. Although, I always end up back shortly after, like a junkie, with my phone in my palm. A permaneant solution is no longer reality as I need my phone for not only social reasons but professional.

Does anyone else struggle with this? What have you found to work?

In addition to writing for Daigle’s Digs, Elizabeth works full-time as a Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Downtown, LLC.
