FLOR just recently solved a tricky situation for me in my home. My dinning room table is round and HUGE and trying to find a rug for underneath proved difficult. To fit comfortably under the table it needed to be at least 9.5 by 10 feet, which is near impossible to find. The only option would be to have a rug custom made is incredibly expensive. That is until someone mentioned FLOR.

If you are new to FLOR, it a company that creates modular carpet tiles. The rug is delivered in multiple carpet tiles which you have to put together. This allows you to create a “custom” sized rug, which was perfect in my case. This new concept, modular carpet tiles, have some awesome perks.

  • You can create a rug with the perfect dimensions. If you need a unique sized rug, you can create it without spending a lot of money. For even harder dimensions, you may cut the FLOR pieces.

  • Not only can you get creative with size, you can also customize the design and look of your rug. Go as crazy as your creative heart desires.

  • FLOR tiles are easy to clean.
  • I can attest, FLOR rugs are very easy to put together.

If you live in Denver, there is a FLOR in Cherry Creek located on 2500 E 2nd Street. The employees are incredibly helpful and are able to assist with the vision for your new rug. In case you were wondering, I ended up purchasing the Mod Cow in black for under my dinning room table.

To create, we must destroy.

For the winter solstice, I did 108 sun salutations. Truth be told I did probably closer to 80 this time around but that is besides the point. The event started with this one quote that resonated with me, “to create, we must destroy”.

As the year came to a close, I realized that a lot of my old coping mechanisms crept in. When stress trickles in (or in some cases, the floodgates of stress open) our body has a natural flow on how to deal. It is what happens naturally and often we do not even think twice about it. Ultimately the only way to accomplish something different than what we have always created, is by DOING something different.

So here we are at the start of another year where everyone always sets out to complete resolutions. Lose weight, gain muscle, triple sales, find love… What is lost is that to accomplish these things, we must destroy what does not serve us or these goals. We must let go of habits, people, patterns, mindsets, beliefs that no longer serve us or our goals. It is often these things that sabotage our efforts at new goals.

I think Steve Jobs puts it nicely:

What will you destroy this year?

Modern Christmas Trees

If you are anything like my family, we switched over to a fake Christmas tree many years ago. One of us was semi allergic to the real deal and that was the end of a real tree. Although we always had a tree that looked real, I have seen many fake trees that look intentionally very fake. Some of the best looking fake Christmas trees are what I consider a play on the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree:

Restoration Hardware has a number of minimalist, modern Christmas trees.

A stark difference from the traditional Christmas tree we are used to but I actually love the look. Like everything, these trees have a place in a home but will evoke a different feel as a traditional tree. How do you feel about these trees? Would you have one in your home?

The perks of two dishwashers are many, especially in a large household. It allows you the space to clean a multitude dishes at once.

Different sized dishwashers allow you to do a smaller or larger load as needed.

You also have the ability to never unload a dishwasher again if you wish! One dishwasher can hold the clean dishes while the other is where the dirty dishes go until washed. The clean and dirty dishwasher just keep changing out.
