With National Library Week being last week, it is only right to celebrate on our city’s great Library. If you have been able to experience the Denver Public Library system, you know it is truly a hidden gem of Denver. It took a short while for me to stumble upon the greatness known as the Denver Public Library (DPL) but now I use it almost weekly. With one central location near Civic Center Park and a smaller library in many neighborhoods, there is really no excuse not to take full advantage of this resource.

The Denver Public Library is a far cry from the dark, musty Library that I grew up near. The Central Library is grandiose and beautiful with thousands of books ranging from fiction, nonfiction, biography, children,young adult and so much more. Additionally, you can find DVDs, music, use of computers and e-books. If you are anything like me, you will lose hours in the Library.

Keeping up with modern times, the Denver Public Library offers an electronic catalog where you can search for titles, request a book and/or place a hold while choosing the pickup Library from the comforts of your own home. Unsure what to read next? You can request a personalized reading list based on what you like to read. As your book’s due date approaches, you will receive an email reminder that it is due. Say goodbye to Library fees!

The Denver Public Library is far more than just books, it has extensive resources for the whole family. You can find events every day of the week at one of the Library locations. Events include tech help, painting, writing workshops, story time for every age, DIY, STEM, art exhibitions, after school hangouts and many more!
