woman looking at modern city

Did you happen to see this article that has been been shared on the Internet recently? Single women are buying homes at twice the rate as men! Wahoo, GO LADIES! In 2016, 80% of my buyers were single (fantastic) women. According to the article, single women account for 17% of homebuyers while men account for 7%.

Whether you are single or married, male or female a first home purchase can be a great step to purchasing a home. The same guidelines would apply for anyone purchasing a home:

  • Speak with a lender to determine your purchasing power and what monthly payment you feel comfortable spending.
  • Choose an agent that has your best interest in mind and who knows the market and has strong negotiation skills.
  • Once under contract, perform your due diligence on the home, such as, reviewing HOA documents and necessary inspections of the home.

Purchasing has historically been completed by a married couple but it sure can be a great investment for a single person. As women get married at an older age, put off starting a family and focus on their careers, it is not surprising that they are taking on a home purchase, as well.
