Pink + Red

Last week I spoke about navy and black matching and I thought of the other color combinations that I have been seeing that have clashed in the past. Pink and red is one of those combinations. I have seen the color put together recently and I really the combination. I particularly like red and pink together in outfits:

Although, I have seen a lot of pink and red in homes and love the look as well. There are many ways to incorporate pink and red into your home.

How do you feel about red and pink together? Do you like it or do you still feel like it clashes?

Modern and Rustic

What a great combination of modern and rustic! The wood table paired with the modern brass lighting and cabinet handles makes this a great design juxtaposition.

A Tree To Hang A Coat On

I am always on a quest to bring the outside IN the home so of course I was very excited to find this picture. Unfortunately, I can not find the link that it is associated with so I do not have the toturial on how to create this.
Not sure you want to take on this DIY yourself? Here are some other options that you can purchase:

Navy and Black

Black and navy. Once a style no-no is now becoming a very popular combination. Black and navy paired together can create a very powerful combination in both fashion and the home.
How do you feel about black and navy together? Would you do it? I am not usually a person to adhere to style rules and much prefer to march to the beat of my own drum. Although, navy and black is the one fashion rule I did follow and I am very happy it no longer seems to be a faux pas.

Neutrals and Texture

Lately I have been gravitating towards a neutral color scheme. I think neutrals can pack a very huge punch in a home. Not only is it very versatile but it keeps the home looking pristine. Here I spoke about about the use of the color white in homes and how texture plays a big role in docrating with a neutral color scheme.
I wanted to talk a little further about texture in the home. The easiest way to describe texture in interior design terms is anything that has movement and looks like it was be interesting to touch. Adding texture into a room can make the room feel very cozy, which is why it is great to partner with neutrals. A neutral room without texture can appear very sterile whereas if you add texture to the room the eye something interesting to look at.
There are a number of ways to incorporate texture into a room. Adding wood and wood elements is one of my favorite ways to incorporate texture into a neutral room.

Do you like the look of neutrals and wood? What other elements do you like to incorporate into a room to add texture?

Focus on Observatory Park

Observatory Park is a much smaller park than City Park. Located southeast of downtown Denver and as one could imagine, this park has an observatory! The Chamberlin Observatory sits in Observatory Park and offer a bountiful schedule of events. If the observatory does not interest you, Observatory Park offers tennis courts, a playground for the kids and picnic areas to relax with family and friends.
The neighborhood surrounding Observatory Park is a quiet, tree-lined residential one. Like many other popular neighborhoods Observatory Park has a mix of scraped homes and older, refinished homes. Homes in this neighborhood are large and on a decent size lot. It has become a sought after location for families as it has a strong school system. Home values range from 850k to above a million and the number of homes left that to be scraped is minimal since the neighborhood has become so popular.
There not many local stores in the neighborhood, although, around the University are restaurants and coffee shops that locals can walk, run or bike to. The neighborhood is in close proximity to I-25 and Colorado Blvd and boasts two light rail stops which makes it a very desirable place to people working in the DTC or other commutes.
