“While she missed being a Denver native by 18 months, Lauri Lynnxe Murphy is proud to be a fourth-generation Coloradan. As an artist, writer, teacher and independent curator, she has been a part of Denver’s art scene her entire adult life, doing everything from founding co-op galleries to opening shops, making art the entire time. As such, she has also unwittingly been a part of the march of gentrification, founding the third gallery to open on Santa Fe Drive, as well as being one of the first pushed out once it grew to popularity. She did her undergraduate work at the Metropolitan State College in Denver and received her MFA from The Ohio State University on University Fellowship in 2012. In 2005 she was the first recipient of Westword’s Mastermind Award in Visual Arts, and in 2006 was chosen Best Arts Advocate by the Rocky Mountain News. In 2010 she curated an exhibition for the Biennial of the Americas, titled Objectophilia, in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver. Her work is focused on biophilia, environmentalism, gentrification and social justice, and can be found at Mai Wyn Fine Art in Denver.”

The event is free for all and is sure to be interesting and entertaining. Be sure to join here. Can’t make it tonight? Tune in every last Thursday as the discussion regarding Denver moves from social media to face-to-face.
