Three easy hikes for beginners in Colorado.

The Rocky Mountains often entice very advanced hikers but hiking 14’er is not easy feat. If you are anything like me and are not ready to take on a 14’er but would love an easy or beginner hike, here are three trails you will want to check out.

Alderfer/Three Sisters Park.

Just a short drive from the city, located in Evergreen, this park is great for hikers and cyclists. These trial were once a working ranch for cattle and has nearly 15 miles on 770 acres. There is something for everyone at Three Sisters with rolling terrain to challenging trails and rock formations for bouldering.

Red Rocks Park

Red Rocks Amphitheater is best know for hosting concerts and events but there is an extensive trail system in this park. Located in Morrison, these trails are a quick drive from the city. Two of the trails are located within the Park, The Trading Post Trail and Geologic Overlook Trail. The third trail, Red Rocks Trail, runs the east side of the Park and is multi-use for hikers, bikers and horseback riding. This trail connects to Jefferson County’s Matthew Winters park making this trail a 6-mile loop.

Roxborough State Park

Located southwest of Denver, this state park is 4000 acres and has enough trails for every level, including beginners. Whichever trail you choose, the backdrop is the gorgeous red-rock formations and lush trees. Unlike the other parks, this one is prohibits bikers.

Whatever your hiking experience is, Colorado offers options for everyone. Even if you are not a hardcore hiker, there are still plenty of options to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. We truly do live in a great place with the mountains as an amazing backyard!
