Why multi-levels homes are a good investment.

A spin off of the one-story ranch, multi-level homes gained popularity in the mid 20th century as the suburbs expanded after World War II. These homes remained popular until the mid 1980’s when they were replaced by two-story homes and, once again, ranches. Multi-level homes are in a number of neighborhoods in Denver and surrounding towns.

The levels are staggered in these homes, meaning there is typically a small set of staircases leading to another level of the home. The most popular multi-level homes are either bi-levels or tri-levels. Bi-levels have two different levels while tri-levels have three different levels.

So, what are some of the perks of a multi-level home?

Affordability. Due to the era in which these homes were popular, these homes can be more affordable. Multi-level homes can be a great option for first time homebuyers due to it’s lower price tag.

Separate space. The multiple levels allow for separate space. The bedrooms are typically on one level while living space is split between one or two levels. This would be perfect for small families to allow for a playroom or den for the kids as they can have their separate space. Additionally, this space can offer guests their own personal oasis while staying with you.

Rentability. Multi-levels make s superb rental because of the separate levels. It allows each renter their  own space. Additionally, these homes present a great opportunity for a couple or small family to rent out just one bedroom. Both parties would have their own separate level of living and only have to share a kitchen.

Open floor plan. Typically these types of homes have an open floor plan and/or high ceilings which makes the home feel spacious. This fits well with our current housing trends and lifestyle.

Although current trends have moved away from multi-level homes, don’t immediately turn these homes down. The layout can create a lot of creative options while maintaining an open and spacious feel in the home.
