There is no ambiguity in success.

I have this really bad tendency to be incredibly ambiguous. Which is actually quite humorous because when it comes down to it – I know fully what I want. It just takes me a bit to acknowledge it. Although, I have learned that you typically get what you want, if you just go for it. But going for it entails a clear, concise vision. which has no room for ambiguity.

I understand that there are a lot of people WAAAAAAY more laid back then me. I stress, A LOT. I have met them – they go with the flow, have no expectations and feel their way through life. While I do respect that approach, it is not how I operate. I am open to seeing where this one little life goes but there are still a handful of things I want out of life. There are goals I have for myself.

And getting there can be scary. You have to put yourself out there every.single.day. Some days (or weeks or years) you will have to stand by yourself for these dreams or visions. You will have to make yourself vulnerable at every crossroad. So, as I approach my two year anniversary of leaving Corporate America and being self employed, this is what I have learned:

Commit to only those who will commit. Personally, professionally, any which way you look at it. Your time and energy are your most precious commodities, don’t waste them. And yes, if you want to over analyze it – commitment is different for everyone and may be a fleeing thought in just a mere few days. But for the present it signifies that someone is willing to give you their time and energy in exchange for yours.

Determine what you want and go there. Let everything else fall by the wayside. You will find resistance anywhere, you might as well defeat resistance where you want to be.

Follow your gut. It is always right.There are articles about this, read them. Your intuition knows all.

Trust yourself. Somedays you may be the only one who trusts you. That doesn’t mean you are wrong, quite the opposite, it probably means you are creative. Go with that, the world needs more creativity. Do it differently until people are copying you. And take it from a girl who is still trying to get my leopard print dress to match my aztec sweater, people remember people who are different.

Surround yourself with people who get you. “Your vibe attracts your tribe”. Again, preserve that hot commodity of time and energy, no need to keep explaining yourself to someone who doesn’t understand.

Don’t take life too seriously. It is serious, trust me, this  hyper focused, determined East Coaster knows it, but at the end of the day – you have to laugh at it all. Outrageous things happen and sometimes (most times) they deserve a laugh.

Believe in breakthroughs, not breakdowns. They look a lot alike but the difference? You come back stronger and more focused after a breakthrough.

Lost? Rebuild. Whatever that means for you. Sell everything. Move. Quit your job. Leave your tribe, find another. It is in these scariest moments of your life that you will determine what you really want.

Today marks the beginning of Denver Restaurant Week . Running from February 26th to March 6th, Denver Restaurant Week has an extensive list of  participating restaurants sure to leave everyone full and satisfied. Denver offers many great culinary delights, therefore, the burning question is where to go! Here is a list of five restaurants to make sure you do not miss out on…

Bacon Social House – Located in the Sunnyside Neighborhood. This restaurant is truely an experience with many dishes based around, you guessed it, Bacon.

Leña is a “Latin American inspired upscale, casual restaurant with a fun, vibrant atmosphere, focused on sharing and communal dining. The name translates to “firewood”, and a white oak, wood fired grill serves as a culinary focal point, offering a vast asado selection of grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables. Other offerings include tacos, featuring homemade corn tortillas, fresh baked empanadas, and other traditional dishes, spanning from South and Central America, Spain, and Mexico. The beverage program is well rounded, with wines from multiple well known and some lesser known producers, craft beers, innovative cocktails, and a wide array of tequila and mescal.

Lena is one of the many great restaurants popping up on Broadway. I recently went here for the second time and it did not disappoint. Be sure to go with good friends as the dishes are best shared. Plan your meal during Resturant Week.

Speaking of small plates…. make sure to check out The 9th Door. With two different locations – Downtown and The Beauvallon, you have no excuse to miss out.

“On Spain’s Costa del Sol, located between Malaga and Marbella, sits a quiet little mountain village called Mijas. 

During the summer of 1969, after having been made famous by James Michener’s novel The Drifters, Mijas had become an expatriate community of writers and poets. On lazy afternoons, these expats would gather at their favorite bar – one without a name, recognizable only by the number nine that was carved into the door. 

Behind the 9th door, they would imbibe on the local wine and brandy and share the tapas of the house, trading stories and reciting poetry to the local women until the early hours of the morning.”

The menu is all tapas here, so a great opportunity to share amongst friends.

Euclid Hall Bar and Kitchen – This was one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved to Denver. At the time, I overlooked how amazing this restaurant really but recently, I have fallen head over heels for this unique but modern menu. It has become a staple when friends come into town.

Euclid Hall Bar and Kitchen is the third restaurant from the team of Jennifer Jasinski and Beth Gruitch, owners of the award winning Rioja and Bistro Vendôme on Denver’s historic Larimer Square. Located right around the corner from Rioja in Euclid Hall, an 1883 building that once housed the venerable Soapy Smith’s bar, this American tavern focuses on high quality and innovative pub food from around the world including housemade sausages, po’ boys, poutine and schnitzels. An extensive beer selection and creative cocktails drive the beverage program.

The Restaurant Week Menu has not been posted on their website yet. Although, I have complete confidence that Euchlid Hall will not disappoint.

Beatrice and Woodsley – Another one of my favorites on Broadway and one of the most ascetically pleasing restaurants I have seen in Denver.

Denver: This Weekend February 20th 2016

Well Denver, the forecast looks perfect for a weekend outside! Soak up all the February sun you can. This Northeastern gal questions how long it will last.

The MCA is open again after a brief close for installation. February 20th, the new exhibits start. Although, all four pique my attention, I am especially interested to see Neighbors:

This exhibition explores in depth the central issues raised by these enigmatic works: voyeurism, the increasingly imperceptible boundaries between privacy and the public, and the ubiquity of the camera in our surveillance-obsessed world.”

The Colorado Home and Garden Show will be ending on Sunday. Over 650 vendors will be at the Convention Center for this show. Go to view the hottest trends in home improvement, landscaping and gardening. Take a look here for a list of all the vendors or attend one of the free demonstrations or how-tos and lock off a few things on your spring cleaning list.

Looking for a bit more action? Catch the Nuggets vs. The Boston Celtics at the Pepsi Center on Sunday February 21st. Or, check out the NHL game at Coors Field this year at the Battle on Blake. At 6 PM February 20th, University of Denver will play against Colorado College.

The Art Gym

I was happy to stumble upon the Art Gym recently. Located in Mayfair, the Art Gym provides members the resources to create art. For $100/month, members receive:
